Mateusz Gamrot Faces a New Dangerous Title Challenger

Undefeated KSW lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot (13-0,1 NC) faces a new title challenger in the shape of the dangerous Grzegorz Szulakowski (9-1) at KSW 42 on March 3 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.

Gamrot won the title at KSW 36 by beating top French fighter Mansour Barnaoui by unanimous decision. The 27-year-old then defended the strap two times, once against Brazilian veteran Renato Gomes and once against rival Norman Parke. It was his two highly publicized duels with Parke which dominated headlines for Gamrot in 2017 with the last fight between the pair ending in a no contest at KSW 40 in Dublin, Ireland.
’Gamer’ has his focus now on Szulakowski and was in attendance last month for his win at KSW 41, a win which impressed the 155lbs champ.
"He won in the first round in spectacular way, with a nice heel hook against a tough fighter," said Gamrot at the time. "I think he deserve to fight for the title. Let’s do it!"
Szulakowski enters this contest as a relative unknown to fans around the world. However, in his native Poland he has built up a reputation as being a very exciting and unpredictable fighter. An eight-fight-win-streak, four of which have been under the KSW banner, follows the 30-year-old into this fight. His two biggest wins came in his past two fights where he finished both Kamil Szymuszowski and the aforementioned former title challenger Renato Gomes. Overall, seven of his nine wins have come via knockout or submission. It really is game on in this fight!
KSW 42 will be headlined by a Champ vs. Champ superfight between Mamed Khalidov (34-4-2) and Tomasz Narkun (14-2), the card will also feature a match-up between fan favourite Michal Materla (25-5) and UFC veteran Scott Askham (15-4) while flyweight champ ’The Violence Queen’ Ariane Lipski (10-3), KSW legend Lukasz Jurkowski (16-10), and SBG’s Chris Fields (12-7-1) will also appear on the card.
Tickets for KSW 42 can be bought from eBilet.pl and people can watch live from anywhere around the world on March 3 via online PPV on KSWTV.com.
